Abbey Wood Rail Station is a Crossrail project that was built by Balfour Beatty. The new railway has halved journey times to central London destinations and is attracting new businesses and investment to the local area.
NACWL installed two large feature glass roof lights with a value of £200,000 to the new station and work was carried out over an operational railway line. The roof light design was fully bespoke consisting of 50mm wide laminated glass rafters with fritted and shaped glass units. The installation involved a complicated lifting strategy which included self-erecting tower cranes and just in time deliveries, all co-ordinated within a live rail environment.
